Visual Acuity Measurement
Visual acuity measurement assesses how clearly your eyes see details at a specific distance, usually 20 feet. During the test, you are asked to read lines of letters or symbols that decrease in size on a chart. The smallest line you can read accurately indicates your visual sharpness. This measurement helps determine if you need corrective lenses or other treatments. The results are often recorded as a fraction, such as 20/20, meaning normal vision; if it's worse, like 20/40, it indicates you see at 20 feet what a person with normal vision can see at 40 feet.
