Vistula-Oder Offensive
The Vistula-Oder Offensive was a major Soviet military campaign in January 1945 during World War II. The Soviet forces rapidly advanced westward, pushing through German defenses across Poland and toward the Oder River, close to Berlin. This offensive aimed to liberate Polish territories, weaken German control, and set the stage for the final push into Germany. It was one of the fastest and most successful Soviet operations of the war, resulting in significant territorial gains, the destruction of German divisions, and boosting Soviet morale and strategic position before the final battles in Germany.
