Vistula Lagoon

The Vistula Lagoon is a brackish water body located on the southeastern coast of the Baltic Sea, primarily between Poland and Russia's Kaliningrad region. It is connected to the sea through narrow straits and is separated from mainland Poland by the Vistula Spit, a long narrow sandbar. The lagoon covers around 838 square kilometers and serves as an important hub for local fishing, transportation, and tourism. Its unique mix of salty and fresh water creates diverse ecosystems, supporting various bird and fish species. The lagoon's strategic location also makes it significant for regional trade and environmental conservation efforts.
