Vishnugupta was an ancient Indian statesman and author who is traditionally believed to have written the Arthashastra, a comprehensive treatise on politics, economics, and military strategy. Thought to have lived around the 4th century BCE, he served as the chief advisor or minister to the Mauryan emperor Chandragupta Maurya.
