Virtual LANs
A Virtual LAN (VLAN) is a way to divide a physical network into separate, logical segments. Think of it like creating different "rooms" within a building, even though they share the same physical space. Each VLAN can host different groups or departments, enhancing security and reducing unnecessary traffic. Devices within the same VLAN can communicate directly, while communication between VLANs requires special routing. VLANs improve network management, improve security, and allow for flexible organization without changing physical connections.
