Virginia State Defense Force

The Virginia State Defense Force (VDF) is a volunteer military organization that supports the Virginia National Guard and state authorities during emergencies, disasters, and other incidents. It operates under state authority and does not have federal military status. Members include trained civilians who assist with disaster response, community safety, and other state-level needs. The VDF provides additional manpower and resources, helping enhance Virginia's emergency preparedness and response capabilities without replacing or competing with the active National Guard.
