Virgil I. Grissom (Gus Grissom)

Virgil I. "Gus" Grissom was a pioneering American astronaut and engineer, known for his daring contributions to space exploration. As one of NASA’s original Mercury Seven astronauts, he flew in the first U.S. space missions, including Liberty Bell 7 and Gemini 3. Grissom played a vital role in developing spacecraft technology and was passionate about advancing human spaceflight. Tragically, he died in the Apollo 1 accident during a test in 1967.
