VIPoma
VIPoma is a rare type of tumor that develops in the pancreas, producing excess amounts of a hormone called vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP). This hormone controls water and salt balance in the body. Overproduction can cause severe diarrhea, dehydration, low potassium levels, and weight loss. VIPoma can spread to other organs if not treated. Diagnosis involves blood and stool tests, and imaging scans to locate the tumor. Treatment often includes medications to manage symptoms and surgery to remove the tumor. Though rare, early detection and management improve outcomes.
