Violence Against Women Act (USA)

The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), enacted in 1994, is a U.S. law designed to improve the ability of agencies to respond to and prevent violence against women. It provides funding for law enforcement, legal services, and community programs to support victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. VAWA also creates stronger legal protections and supports for victims, including protections for immigrant women. Its goal is to reduce violence, increase safety, and promote justice for women affected by these crimes.
