Vijayanagara currency

The Vijayanagara Empire, which flourished in South India from the 14th to 16th centuries, used a variety of coinage to facilitate trade and commerce. Their currency primarily included gold, silver, and copper coins, often inscribed with royal symbols, deities, and inscriptions in Kannada and other scripts. Gold coins like the "Pagoda" were high-value, mainly used by the wealthy and for large transactions. Silver coins, called "Kasuti" or "Huna," were common for everyday trade, while copper coins served smaller payments. These coins reflected the empire's rich cultural and economic vitality, blending local and foreign influences.
