Vietnam Military History
Vietnam's military history is marked by resilience and strategic ingenuity, beginning with ancient conflicts resisting Chinese and Mongol invasions. In the 20th century, the struggle for independence led to the First Indochina War (against France) and subsequently the Vietnam War, involving heavy guerrilla tactics, significant foreign intervention, and ideological battles between communism and capitalism. After reunification in 1975, Vietnam focused on rebuilding its military and defending against regional threats. Today, Vietnam maintains a modernizing military, emphasizing territorial defense, maritime security, and regional stability, reflecting a blend of historical resilience and evolving strategic priorities.
