Vieques Peace and Justice Coalition
The Vieques Peace and Justice Coalition is a grassroots organization advocating for environmental health, social justice, and peace in Vieques, Puerto Rico. It emerged in response to the U.S. Navy's military exercises and bombing practice on the island, which caused environmental damage and health issues for residents. The coalition promotes community activism, transparency, and political change to end military activities and ensure sustainable development. It aims to protect Vieques’ natural resources, improve residents’ well-being, and foster grassroots participation in decision-making processes affecting the island's future.
