Vieques Liberation Army
The Vieques Liberation Army (ELV) was a Puerto Rican nationalist group active in the 1980s and 1990s. It sought independence for Puerto Rico through violent means, including bombings and attacks targeting U.S. military and government facilities on the island of Vieques and elsewhere. The group aimed to end U.S. military presence in Puerto Rico, particularly the use of Vieques for bombing exercises that caused environmental and health concerns among residents. ELV was considered a domestic terrorist organization by authorities due to its use of violence, and it played a significant role in Puerto Rican nationalist history.
