Vienna Offensive
The Vienna Offensive was a major military operation during World War II in April 1945, when Nazi Germany launched a large-scale attack against advancing Soviet forces around Vienna, Austria. The goal was to slow the Soviet advance and protect the city from falling into Soviet hands as Allied forces converged toward Germany's defeat. Despite fierce fighting and significant German troop efforts, the offensive ultimately failed to stop the Soviets, and Vienna was captured a few weeks later. The operation marked one of the last German attempts to resist the Soviet advance into Central Europe.
