Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS)
Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS) is a minimally invasive surgical technique used to diagnose and treat chest conditions, such as lung or pleural diseases. The surgeon makes small incisions in the chest and inserts a tiny camera called a thoracoscope, which projects images onto a monitor. This allows the surgeon to see inside the chest without large cuts and perform procedures like biopsy, removal of diseased tissue, or fluid drainage. VATS often results in less pain, shorter hospital stays, and quicker recovery compared to traditional open surgery, making it a safer and more comfortable option for many patients.
