Victor Schoelcher

Victor Schœlcher was a French lawyer, politician, and abolitionist born in 1804. He is best known for his passionate advocacy against slavery and his pivotal role in France’s abolition of slavery in its colonies in 1848. Schœlcher believed in human rights and equality, dedicating much of his life to fighting racial injustice. His efforts helped bring about legal change, making France one of the first countries to officially end slavery in its territories.
