Vickers indenter
A Vickers indenter is a small, pyramid-shaped tool used in material testing to measure a material’s hardness. When pressed into a surface with a controlled force, it creates a tiny indentation. By measuring the size of this indentation, engineers can determine how hard the material is—harder materials leave smaller marks. The Vickers method is precise and useful for testing various materials, including metals and ceramics, especially when only a tiny sample is available. It provides consistent, reliable data on a material’s resistance to deformation under load.
