Veterans Law Judge
A Veterans Law Judge (VLJ) is a specialized judicial officer within the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) who hears appeals regarding veterans’ benefits claims. When veterans disagree with a decision made by the VA, they can appeal to the Board of Veterans’ Appeals. The VLJ reviews the case, listens to testimonies, evaluates evidence, and makes a legal ruling on the appeal. Their goal is to ensure veterans receive the benefits they deserve based on their service and circumstances. The decisions made by VLJs can significantly impact veterans' access to medical care, disability compensation, and other essential services.
