Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA)

The Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA) is a network of ten radio telescopes spread across the United States, from Hawaii to the Virgin Islands. By combining their signals through precise timing, the VLBA effectively creates a single, giant telescope with extremely high resolution. This allows scientists to observe distant cosmic objects—like black holes, stars, and galaxies—in incredible detail, far beyond the capabilities of individual telescopes.
