Very Long Baseline Array

The Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA) is a network of ten radio telescopes spread across the United States, from Hawaii to the Virgin Islands. By linking these telescopes together with precise timing, the VLBA effectively creates a single, very large telescope with extremely high resolution. This setup allows astronomers to capture detailed images of distant cosmic objects, such as black holes, quasars, and star-forming regions, with remarkable clarity. Essentially, the VLBA enables scientists to observe the universe in extraordinary detail by combining the power of multiple telescopes across vast distances.
