Vertical Launch System

The Vertical Launch System (VLS) is a sophisticated missile launching platform used on naval ships, such as aircraft carriers and destroyers. It consists of a set of sealed tubes that hold various missiles, which are vertically stacked. When needed, the system can quickly fire these missiles directly upward, allowing them to be guided toward targets with precision. This design enables ships to carry a wide array of missile types—such as defense, attack, or anti-submarine missiles—while maximizing space efficiency. The VLS enhances a ship’s flexibility, readiness, and speed in responding to various military threats.
