Vernal Equinox

The Vernal Equinox occurs twice a year when the Sun is directly above the Earth's equator, resulting in nearly equal daylight and nighttime hours worldwide. It marks the beginning of spring in the Northern Hemisphere, usually around March 20 or 21. This event happens because Earth's tilted axis causes different parts of the planet to receive varying amounts of sunlight throughout the year. On the equinox, the Sun appears to cross the celestial equator from south to north, signaling the seasonal transition and balanced day and night lengths across the globe.
