ventriloquism techniques

Ventriloquism involves creating the illusion that a puppet or "dummy" is speaking while the performer’s lips stay nearly still. This is achieved through controlled breath support, precise mouth and tongue movements, advanced diction, and practicing to minimize lip movements. Performers often substitute difficult sounds with easier ones, and use pitch and voice modulation to give the puppet a distinct personality. The key is seamless coordination between voice and puppet, combined with engaging gestures, so the audience perceives the puppet as a separate, talking character without obvious signs of the performer's involvement.
