Ventricular Assist Device Surgery
Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) surgery is a procedure used to help patients with severe heart failure. During the surgery, a mechanical pump is implanted into the chest to assist the heart's pumping ability. This device takes over some of the heart’s workload, helping to ensure that blood circulates effectively throughout the body. VADs can be used temporarily while waiting for a heart transplant or as a long-term solution for those who are not candidates for transplant. The surgery aims to improve quality of life and increase survival in patients with weakened hearts.
