Venous Ulcers

Venous ulcers are open wounds that develop on the skin, typically around the lower legs or ankles, due to poor blood flow in the veins. When veins have trouble returning blood to the heart, it can cause increased pressure and fluid buildup in the legs. This pressure damages the skin and underlying tissue, leading to ulcers. These wounds often appear as irregular, painful sores with a reddish or yellowish base. They are common in people with chronic venous disease and require proper treatment, including compression therapy, wound care, and addressing underlying vein issues, to promote healing and prevent recurrence.
