Venous Leg Ulcer
A venous leg ulcer is a chronic sore that develops on the lower leg due to poor blood flow caused by damaged or weakened veins. Normally, these veins help return blood to the heart, but when they malfunction, blood pools, increasing pressure and causing skin tissue to break down. These ulcers often appear as irregularly shaped, painful wounds on the inside of the lower leg, and they may be accompanied by swelling or skin changes. Proper treatment involves improving blood flow, managing symptoms, and caring for the wound to promote healing.
