Venezuelan Independence

Venezuelan Independence was a process during the early 19th century when the Venezuelan people sought to break free from Spanish colonial rule. Influenced by Enlightenment ideas and independence movements in other Latin American countries, leaders like Simón Bolívar led military campaigns to establish sovereignty. After years of struggle beginning in 1810, Venezuela officially declared independence in 1811, culminating in its recognition as a free nation in 1821 following a series of battles. This movement was part of broader Latin American efforts to gain self-determination and end colonial domination.
