Venezuela's Independence

Venezuela's independence was a key event in the early 19th century, driven by a desire to break free from Spanish colonial rule. Inspired by enlightenment ideas and other Latin American independence movements, Venezuelans began fighting in 1810, culminating in a prolonged conflict known as the Venezuelan War of Independence. Despite setbacks and internal divisions, key leaders like Simón Bolívar led efforts to unite various regions. On July 5, 1811, Venezuela officially declared independence, and after years of struggle, it achieved independence from Spain in 1821, becoming a sovereign nation.
