vedolizumab
Vedolizumab is a medication used to treat inflammatory bowel diseases like Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. It works by blocking specific immune cells from reaching the intestines, reducing inflammation and tissue damage. Unlike some treatments that suppress the entire immune system, vedolizumab targets only the gut, which helps control symptoms such as pain, diarrhea, and bleeding while minimizing overall immune suppression. It is administered by infusion, typically every few weeks, and is often used when other treatments haven't been effective.
