Vedic tradition
The Vedic tradition is an ancient spiritual and philosophical system originating from India’s Vedas—sacred texts composed around 1500–500 BCE. It encompasses diverse practices, rituals, and ideas focused on understanding the universe, moral duties (dharma), and spiritual growth. Central concepts include the pursuit of knowledge, harmony with nature, and the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth (samsara). It has influenced Hinduism and other spiritual paths, emphasizing meditation, prayer, and ethical living as ways to attain spiritual insight and liberation (moksha). The tradition is both a living cultural heritage and a foundation for spiritual exploration.
