vecuronium
Vecuronium is a medication used during surgery to relax muscles and prevent movements. It works by blocking signals between nerves and muscles, causing temporary paralysis. This helps doctors perform procedures safely, especially when intubating the airway or operating on muscles. Vecuronium is administered through a vein and acts quickly, with effects lasting about 30 to 60 minutes. Because it causes paralysis, it must be used in a controlled medical setting with appropriate monitoring. It does not cause pain or unconsciousness, so anesthesia is also given to ensure the patient is unaware during surgery.
