Vassal

A vassal is a person in a historical feudal system who receives land or benefits from a more powerful lord in exchange for loyalty and service. Essentially, the vassal pledges allegiance to the lord and promises to support them, often by providing military aid or other duties. In return, the lord offers protection and privileges, like land to manage. This relationship was a key aspect of medieval society, helping to establish social and political order, where power and resources were distributed based on loyalty and service rather than democracy.
