Vasopressin (Antidiuretic Hormone)
Vasopressin, also known as antidiuretic hormone (ADH), is a hormone produced by the brain that helps regulate water balance in your body. It signals your kidneys to conserve water, reducing urine production and keeping your blood from becoming too concentrated. When you're dehydrated or your blood is too salty, vasopressin levels increase, prompting your kidneys to reabsorb more water. Conversely, if you're well-hydrated, its levels decrease, allowing more water to be excreted. This hormone is vital for maintaining stable blood pressure, hydration, and overall fluid balance in your body.
