Varnas
Varnas are traditional social groups in Hindu society, historically categorizing people based on their roles and duties. There are four primary varnas: Brahmins (priests and scholars), Kshatriyas (warriors and rulers), Vaishyas (merchants and farmers), and Shudras (service providers and laborers). Each varna was associated with specific responsibilities to maintain social harmony. While this system influenced societal organization historically, contemporary perspectives emphasize equality and individual merit over prescribed roles. The varna system reflects a framework for social order rooted in ancient Indian culture, but its application and interpretation have evolved over time.
