Varicella (Chickenpox)

Varicella, commonly known as chickenpox, is a contagious infection caused by the varicella-zoster virus. It spreads easily through respiratory droplets or contact with skin blisters. Symptoms typically include an itchy rash with red spots and blisters, fever, headache, and fatigue. The illness is usually mild in children but can be more severe in adults or those with weakened immune systems. Most people recover within a week or two, and vaccination can effectively prevent the disease. Once infected, the virus may remain dormant in the body and can reactivate later as shingles.
