Vagrancy Acts

Vagrancy Acts are laws that historically aimed to regulate and control the behavior of homeless people or those without a fixed residence. Originating in the 16th and 17th centuries, these laws criminalized activities associated with vagrancy, such as begging or wandering without a job. Although intended to maintain public order, these acts often led to the persecution of the poor and marginalized. Many countries have since reformed or repealed Vagrancy Laws, recognizing the need for compassion and support for individuals facing homelessness rather than punishment.
