VAD (ventricular assist device)

A Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) is a mechanical pump that helps the heart pump blood more effectively. It’s typically implanted in patients with severe heart failure when the heart cannot meet the body's needs. The VAD connects to the heart and a power source outside the body, assisting or fully taking over the pumping function.
