Vacuum-Assisted Closure (VAC)

Vacuum-Assisted Closure (VAC) is a medical treatment that uses controlled negative pressure, or suction, to promote healing in open or complex wounds. A special foam dressing is placed over the wound and sealed with an airtight film. A vacuum pump then applies gentle suction, removing excess fluids, reducing swelling, and increasing blood flow to the area. This process helps clean the wound, encourages tissue growth, and speeds up healing. VAC is often used for difficult wounds, such as those resulting from surgery, trauma, or burns, to improve outcomes and reduce infection risk.
