Vaccines against HIV
HIV vaccines aim to protect people from the virus that causes AIDS by training the immune system to recognize and fight HIV. Unlike traditional vaccines, which prevent many diseases, HIV vaccines face challenges because the virus constantly mutates and hides in the body. Researchers are developing different types of vaccines, such as those that introduce harmless HIV components to stimulate immunity, or aim to generate broadly neutralizing antibodies. While a fully effective HIV vaccine is still in development, ongoing research is making progress toward preventing infection and controlling the spread of HIV worldwide.
