VAB (Vacuum-Assisted Biopsy)

Vacuum-Assisted Biopsy (VAB) is a minimally invasive procedure used to remove tissue samples from the body, typically from the breast, to diagnose abnormalities. It involves inserting a small instrument through a tiny incision, guided by imaging technology, to collect multiple tissue samples efficiently. The vacuum technology helps to gently suction tissue into the device, allowing for more detailed sampling with fewer passes. This procedure provides accurate diagnosis with less discomfort and scarring compared to traditional surgical biopsies, and it can often be done on an outpatient basis.
