Uvea
The uvea is the middle layer of the eye, located between the outer white part (sclera) and the inner retina. It consists of three parts: the iris (the colored part controlling light entry), the ciliary body (which helps focus the eye), and the choroid (a layer rich in blood vessels nourishing the eye). The uvea plays a crucial role in eye health and vision by supplying nutrients, managing eye pressure, and responding to light and eye infections. Inflammation or disease affecting this layer is called uveitis, which can impact vision if not treated properly.
