Utah State Court System
The Utah State Court System is the judicial branch of state government, responsible for interpreting and applying laws. It includes trial courts (District Courts) handling criminal, civil, juvenile, and family cases; the Utah Supreme Court, the highest court, which reviews important legal issues and ensures uniformity; the Utah Court of Appeals, which hears appeals from lower courts; and smaller courts like Justice and Municipal Courts that handle minor offenses and preliminary matters. This system ensures justice is administered fairly and consistently across the state.
