USS Thresher

USS Thresher was a U.S. nuclear-powered submarine commissioned in 1961, tasked with deep-sea defense and research. On April 10, 1963, during a test, it sank off the coast of Massachusetts, resulting in the loss of all 129 crew members. The disaster was caused by a combination of mechanical failures and design issues that led to flooding and loss of power.
