USS Oriskany (aircraft carrier wreck)

The USS Oriskany was a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier active from 1950 to 1976. After decommissioning, it was intentionally sunk in 2006 off the coast of Florida to create an artificial reef. Now lying on the ocean floor, it provides a habitat for marine life and attracts divers. Its wreck is about 911 feet long and rests at a depth of around 212 feet, making it one of the largest artificial reefs in the world. The site serves both ecological purposes and as a popular destination for recreational diving and underwater exploration.
