USS Niagara

USS Niagara (SP-136) was a patrol boat used by the U.S. Navy during World War I. Originally a civilian steam tugboat built in 1898, it was repurposed for military service in 1917 to help guard American waters, escort ships, and ensure security along the coast. After its service in the war, the Niagara was decommissioned and returned to civilian use. Its role was part of the broader effort to protect U.S. maritime interests during wartime, providing versatile patrol capabilities during a critical period in naval history.
