USS Lexington (CV-16)
USS Lexington (CV-16) was a World War II aircraft carrier of the U.S. Navy, commissioned in 1943. Larger and more advanced than earlier Lexington ships, it played a significant role in the Pacific Theater, participating in key battles such as the Battle of Coral Sea and the Battle of the Philippines. The carrier served throughout the war, launching aircraft that supported ground operations and engaged enemy ships. Decommissioned in 1958, it later became a museum and monument off the coast of Texas, offering visitors insights into naval history and aviation.
