USS Cooper (DE-77)
USS Cooper (DE-77) was a Buckley-class destroyer escort built by the U.S. Navy during World War II. Its primary role was to protect larger ships and convoys from enemy submarines and aircraft, especially in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. Equipped with sonar, depth charges, and guns, it conducted anti-submarine warfare, escorting cargo ships, troop transports, and combat vessels. The USS Cooper contributed to Allied maritime safety and task force operations, ensuring the secure movement of vital personnel and supplies during wartime. After the war, it was decommissioned and eventually scrapped or transferred, as part of post-war naval downsizing.
