USS Aquila
USS Aquila (PHM-4) was a United States Navy hydrofoil fast-attack craft, launched in 1977. Hydrofoils are specialized boats with wing-like foils underneath that lift the hull above the water, allowing for increased speed and maneuverability. The Aquila was designed for quick, agile responses, particularly in coastal defense and surveillance. It could reach speeds over 40 knots (roughly 46 mph) and was used primarily for patrol, reconnaissance, and missile deployment. Decommissioned in 1993, the Aquila exemplified advanced naval technology aimed at enhancing maritime security and rapid response capabilities.
