US-VISIT program

The US-VISIT program, now known as the Office of Biometric Identity Management (OBIM), is a federal initiative that collects and verifies biometric data—such as fingerprints and digital photographs—from travelers entering the United States. Its primary goal is to strengthen border security, ensure accurate identification, and prevent identity fraud. When travelers arrive or depart, their biometric information is captured and checked against various databases to confirm identity and assess security risks. This system enhances national security while facilitating lawful travel and immigration processes.
