US Senate

The U.S. Senate is one of the two chambers of Congress, responsible for making federal laws. It has 100 senators, with each state electing two regardless of population size. Senators serve six-year terms, with elections staggered so not all are chosen at once. The Senate reviews bills passed by the House of Representatives, offers advice and consent on presidential appointments, approves treaties, and can hold trials to resolve impeachment cases.
